Mandated Reporter: Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse
The Department of Human Services requires that all staff complete this free, online training every five years. Please click on the link above to complete your training. Please submit to EDS your certificate of completion as soon as you complete your training. If you have already completed this training with a previous employer, you may submit that certificate to us.

Better Kid Care Professional Development
DHS and STARS requires 12 hours of annual professional development for our teachers. Online training is completed through the Better Kid Care link above. We will let you know when and which courses to take each year. Certified teachers can learn more about submitting your training for Act 48 hours here.

STARS Training

All EDS sites have earned the highest quality rating awarded by the state of Pennsylvania - 4 Stars! Part of this quality process is the professional development of our staff. We will let you know when to complete the following steps. Please complete the steps below in the listed order to register with the Professional Development (PD) Registry and complete the required training.

1. Confirm EDS as your Employer

You will receive an email from the PD Registry in which you will confirm your employment with EDS. If you do not have a PD Registry account, it will prompt you to create one. Click on the link above for easy instructions. It only takes a few minutes to complete.

2. STARS PD Plan

You will complete a Professional Development Plan for the STARS Registry. Click on the link above for easy instructions. It only takes a few minutes to complete.

3. STARS PD Assessment

You will complete a Professional Development Assessment for the STARS Registry. Click on the link above for easy instructions. It only takes a few minutes to complete.

4. Keystone STARS Training

The link above for Keystone STARS Training is an online training that all EDS teachers are required by the state to take within the first 3 months of employment. This training will take 1 hour to complete and is paid by EDS. You will need to know the following info to begin the STARS training.

Who is your Quality Coach? Elizabeth (Allegheny Co), Heather (Washington Co)
What ELRC Region are you in? Region 5 (Allegheny Co), Region 4 (Washington Co)
What PDO are you in? Southwest Region
Who is the PDO in your region? PA State System of Higher Education (PSSHE PDO at Shippensburg)

5. STARS PD Profile (Career Pathway)

You will complete a Profile for the STARS Registry. Click on the link above for easy instructions. It only takes a few minutes to complete. This STARS PD Profile MUST be completed LAST. You will be locked out of the system after you complete this profile and will not be able to complete the other parts.
