EDS operates extended day programs in Upper St. Clair, Peters Township, and South Fayette school districts. Our before and after school programs are designed for children entering kindergarten though sixth grade. All EDS programs are split into a morning session and an afternoon session separated by the school day. The morning session begins at 7:00 AM and ends when school begins. The afternoon session begins immediately after the end of the school day and ends at 6:00 PM.

Extended Day's mission is to provide a safe, enriching environment for children while focusing on peer socialization in a framework of recreational and educational activities. All children have the opportunity to choose from a wide variety of recreational classes including athletics, cooking, games, crafts, etc. In addition, we offer quiet time and assistance in completing children's homework while at the program. Our general curriculum includes:

  • Guest Speakers - including police officers, firefighters, Pittsburgh Zoo animals, and a doctor stressing the importance of wearing bicycle helmets.
  • Team Games - stressing teamwork, peer cooperation and conflict resolution in a variety of physical games
  • Homework Support - teaching the importance of completing assignments and building on current academic skills
  • Quiet Games - allowing children the opportunity to play group games and board games while learning the rules of good sportsmanship and some new games to boot
  • Snack - allowing children to choose their snacks as well as participate in creating some culinary masterpieces
  • Art Projects - teaching the importance of sharing resources and working together as a group to complete a unique project
