Extended Day Services - Our Programs

Before and After School Programs
EDS offers Before and After School Programs within the elementary school buildings in the school districts listed on the left of this page In most districts we serve elementary and middle school children from Kindergarten through sixth grade.

We divide the students into groups by age and gender and make use of the gym, the cafeteria and our K-Plus classrooms. We offer a variety of daily activities including sports, cooking, art, crafts, seasonal projects, tournaments and much more! Please see below for an example of our daily plans. We also offer a daily homework period, with teacher support if needed, and a daily snack choice for the children. Our centers operate Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM until the beginning of the school day and after school until 6:00 PM. In addition, we offer full-day programs on district in-service days, usually taking a field trip to a local place of interest.

Kindergarten-Plus Programs
In addition to before and after school programs, we also offer a Kindergarten-Plus (K-Plus) program for kindergarten students in the Upper St. Clair, South Fayette, and Beaver Area School Districts. The K-Plus program is a half-day kindergarten enrichment program offered opposite a child's regular half-day kindergarten session.

The K-Plus program operates at each elementary school and is designed to provide kindergarten children with a full-day kindergarten experience. The K-Plus Program offers a variety of enrichment activities that correlate with the concepts being taught in kindergarten and provides children with hands-on activities to supplement and reinforce their classroom instruction in reading, math, science and social studies.

Children enrolled in morning kindergarten may attend the afternoon K-Plus program while children enrolled in afternoon kindergarten may attend the morning K-Plus program. Kindergarten children enrolled in either K-Plus program may also attend the morning extended day or afternoon extended day. In addition, we offer full-day programs on district in-service days, usually taking a field trip to a local place of interest.

Summer Camp
Our full-day Summer Camp is also located within the elementary school buildings. We operate each day from 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM throughout the summer months. Please see your child's school district on the left of this page for locations nearest you.

We offer six different activities each day including indoor and outdoor sports, art, cooking, science, and much more! Children are grouped according to grade level, interests, and friendships. In addition to the variety of daily camp activites, we offer special party days, swim trips and a variety of field trips throughout the summer that may interest your child.

Our special party days range from a Hawaiian Luau to a Sports Carnival to a Camp Talent Show. In addition, we go on weekly swim trips each Wednesday and on a variety of fun-filled field trips throughout the summer. Please check your district's page to the left to view additional information about the summer calendar and scheduled events. All swim trips and field trips are optional. Therefore, if your child is not interested in a certain field trip, he may stay at camp and participate in a full day of camp activities, games, and contests.
